This
one is very annoying - probably the most annoying of all. Even though
APRS is set to mute, the audio of the transmitted status beacon comes
through the speaker. It can be controlled with the volume control, but
doing so lowers the volume of the Band A frequency. So essentially, if I
want to quietly monitor my local repeater, I have to deal with
listening to an annoying packet from the FT2DR that I should not have to
hear. Others have commented on this as well. This has been confirmed and reported to the engineers for study.
No change. Audio of the transmitted beacon comes through the speaker at the level that the volume control is set to.
A/a (shift key) on the virtual keyboards does not work. If they couldn’t get it working, they should remove it. This has been confirmed and reported to the engineers for study.
No change. A/a shift key still does not function.
The WX Alert feature does not appear to function. The frequency is properly set, but it would not engage during the weekly Wednesday test this week, nor during another alert on Thursday. The weather alert does function, however the weather alert feature needs to be turned on and the radio in scan mode (either VFO or memory scan) to function.

The charging status bar resets if the radio is turned on and then off again no matter how far along it was in the charge cycle. This has been confirmed and reported to the engineers for study.
No change. Charging bar still resets to start even if there is a half charge on the batteries.
The
LED does not light when charging. This is annoying as it is a visual
indicator that the charging is taking place and a change of color when
it is complete. Since the screen is not lit when the unit is off and
charging, viewing the display is inconvenient. Also, when the charging
is complete, the screen goes blank which to me, from a usability
perspective, does not tell me that charging is complete. This is a real
problem, since if I turn on the radio to see if it is charged and turn
it off again, it appears that the charging did not take place and its
starting up as per my previous bug report. This
is a misprint in the manual, when charging the LED will not light.
Current production radios have been like this since 2013 to be in
compliance with the California Energy Commission guidelines.

There
appears to be no indicator on the panel of an incoming message. There
should be. Someone mentioned that the LED flashes, but between local
repeater activity and APRS the LED is flashing often and the screen is
the best place to put a message indicator - again, like the FTM-400DR
has.
Still no indicator that a message is waiting.
Hummm. I have been doing some tests here, and the issue with the
ReplyDeletedifference between the analog and the digital mic level seems not to
been fixed in the upgrade. That is really a pity :(
No news about the difference between the analog and the digital mic level?
